Silent Chords

At ten years old, I was captivated by my uncle’s guitar; its shape, its sound, its mystery. In my household, music, especially for women, was forbidden. I never learned to play, yet the longing never left me. Even now, I find myself singing in silence, carrying songs that live only in my heart. Quiet to the world, but loud within me, I often wonder what melodies I might have written, and where they might have carried me, had I been given the chance to play…

This piece, created with mixed media including acrylic paint and string art, symbolizes that longing. The intersecting strings represent the tension and harmony of memory, how certain moments, though out of reach, continue to echo within us like a melody that never truly fades.
