A Way Out.

In Surah At-Talaq (65:2), Allah (SWT) promises a way out for those who are mindful of Him, trust Him, and seek His guidance in all that they do. This piece represents the journey from darkness to light. It serves as a reminder that no matter how difficult life’s struggles feel, Allah’s guidance will always shine through; showing the way forward.

I choose the verses for my pieces based on what I’m feeling in that moment. For this particular one, I won’t lie, beneath the vibrant flowers and colors was my attempt to overcome a deep sadness.
With every thread, I whispered, “𝘠𝘢 𝘈𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘩, 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘙𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘒𝘶𝘯 𝘍𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘬𝘶𝘯” (Be, and it is.)

I needed the reminder that with a single command, Allah can transform circumstances and create miracles beyond my imagination. That nothing is impossible with Allah (SWT). In that light, I drew inspiration from Surah Maryam, where Allah (SWT) repeatedly reminds us of His miracles and says: “It is easy for Me.”

Life sometimes weighs us down with moments of doubt or despair, but nothing is beyond Allah’s will. That’s why I chose this theme of flowers, to serve as a reminder of hope…

Elhamdulillah it is by Allah's will that I've been able to complete this artwork for @sponsoringorphans with @islamicreliefcanada featuring guest speaker @ieashaprime . It feels a bit sad to let it go but I pray that Allah accepts it and I'm happy it's going for a good cause.

Putting yourself out there is never easy, especial

Putting yourself out there is never easy, especially when what you create holds deep meaning in your heart. Many don’t know this, but in 2020, I lost my eyesight. One moment, the world was full of color, and the next, it was complete darkness. I eventually regained my vision, but it kept slipping away due to my autoimmune condition (Anti-MOG). In those moments of uncertainty, fear, and longing, I searched for closeness to Allah. That’s when I created my first string art piece, one that simply read: "I am Near." - Qur'an (2:186)

At the time, I knew nothing about string art. But something inside me just pushed me to try, and I fell in love with it.

I sometimes feel like every stage of string art mirrors something deeper. The nailing is where I release my emotions, hammering them into the wood, letting the frustration, sadness, and fear sink in. The threading is where my mind wanders, shifting between thoughts, changing direction, finding new perspectives, until the strands come together with meaning. But closing off the threads? That part is difficult. Maybe because it feels like letting go, and that is never easy.

And now, I get to share this experience with you. I have created DIY kits with step-by-step instructions and videos so you can create your own piece. Taking part in a market for the first time was a bit intimidating, but I am deeply grateful that I took that step.

if you know me, you know,
i’ve always dreamed of publishing a book.
i didn’t know what it would be about,
i just knew words were waiting,
aching to be released.

years slipped by…
and then, in the depths of my darkest nights,
when my heart was heavy and my soul lost,
i desperately needed His guidance…
i would sit on the prayer mat,
hands open, lips trembling,
speechless…

so I wrote instead.
poetry spilled from my heart,
raw, unfiltered…
letters to Allah,
inspired by His beautiful names,

oh, how i cried,
learning who He truly is,
letting every verse be a call,
a plea, a surrender...

and when the pages filled,
i gathered them,
binding my journey into a book,
𝘫𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 99

now, it lives beyond me,
finding homes in places I never imagined,
Malaysia, Singapore, UAE, Canada.

but i’ll be honest,
along the way, life swept me up.
motherhood, responsibilities,
the silence of some I hoped would cheer me on…
i let it dim my light,
i should have held my work closer,
given it the love it deserved.

but here I am.
promising myself to do better,
to honor the gift He placed in me.
i am a student of life,
forever seeking,
forever guided by
the One who guides, Ar-Rasheed.
